Schloss Neuschwanstein

A day trip to the Neuschwanstein Castle in the mountains of Bavaria was buttressed by beautiful 65 degree weather and a delightful mix of white snow and green grass. This is one amazing palace. For history on the castle, check this Wiki page. (Hohenschwangau Castle is also very pretty. We got a great view of it from the bridge from Neuschwanstein). The trip from our house took about 2 hours but seemed like no time as we enjoyed picture perfect scenery. Snow capped mountains, beautiful rustic farm houses, frozen lakes... everything dreams are made of was before us. I got to spend some great one-on-one time with my sister, watched my God son chase my daughter around, and smiled as my husband beamed with pride at how happy he made me by putting this whole vacation together for me! We took a horse and carriage ride up as far as we could go (I think we got the gassiest horse, lol) and walked the scenic path to the castle. Shaun and Kalynn sat up front with the carriage driver so although they saw a lot more, they also smelled a lot more. (Sorry kids!). I think that Shaun is hooked, he doesn't want to leave (except that I think he would miss his girlfriend waaaaaaaaaaaay too much, lol). Enjoy the photos!

On the way back we even drove through someone's house! Check out that photo. That was very cool. What was NOT cool was being stuck behind an odl. This is a german farming tank filled with cow pee that farmers use to fertilize soil. Ewwwwwwwe! This thing stinks like nothing you have ever smelled before. Wow.
